Greetings,

I’m R. J. Davies, Canadian published author of the Maddox Files series (novels) and Dice Maddox series (novellas). Here’s are some insights from me: the five things no one ever asks me!

What is your writing Kryptonite?

If I go for a long period of time without writing I get moody. It’s like having a bottle of soda that you shake and shake … when you open the bottle, it just explodes everywhere. I need to write to stay sane.

If you could tell your younger writing self anything what would it be?

Stay true to you. Stay focused and just go for it! Write what you know! You got this! Best advice any young author could receive is READ READ READ WRITE WRITE WRITE! And every writer has stories that are theirs to tell the world. It is a crime when you don’t sit down and write them. The right people will find you!

How long on average does it take you to write a book?

I write my first drafts within a month, the rewriting and editing feels belaboured and is another story within itself.

Do you believe in writer’s block?

Yes, I think there are writers who experience this. I have been very fortunate to have not. I am a writer that suffers the other way. It feels like someone has left the faucet running. It’s a constant flow of creativity that never shuts up!

What does your family think of your writing?

They think it’s pretty cool until it comes down to me burning dinner because I get wrapped up writing a scene and forget that I’m making dinner!

Bonus Question: Who designed your book covers?

This is actually something that I get asked often. My logo and book covers are all designed by the very talented P. L. Cobb.

I look forward to sharing my bits of wisdom with everyone!
